Introduction to post-grouting method

Post-grouting of cast-in-place piles means that after the bored cast-in-place piles are formed, a high-pressure grouting pump is used to press a certain pressure of cement slurry into the pile end soil layer and the pile side soil layer through the pre-buried grouting channel. The slurry penetrates, fills, compacts, splits, and consolidates the pile end sediment, the pile end bearing layer, and the mud skin around the pile to enhance the strength of the pile side soil and the pile end soil, thereby achieving a technical measure to improve the ultimate bearing capacity of the pile foundation and reduce the settlement of the pile group.

The role of post-grouting method

After post-grouting of the pile end, not only the end resistance has been greatly improved, but also the pile side friction resistance has been greatly improved. The vertical compressive ultimate bearing capacity of a single pile can generally be increased by 40% in gravel layers, 30% in medium sand layers, 25% in silt layers, 10%-15% in clay layers and silty soil layers, and 15% in bedrock.

Post-grouting of cast-in-place piles can improve the following effects:

1. Post-grouting of cast-in-place piles reinforces the bearing layer at the pile end and improves the end bearing capacity per unit area.

2. Post-grouting of cast-in-place piles solidifies the sediment at the pile end and improves the coefficient of end resistance.

3. Post-grouting of cast-in-place piles solidifies the mud skin on the pile side and improves the unit side resistance.

4. Post-grouting of cast-in-place piles penetrates, compacts, and reinforces the soil on the pile side, and improves the coefficient of side resistance N.

5. After grouting at the pile end of a group of piles, the slurry diffuses, connects, and solidifies, which is equivalent to artificially creating a hard bearing layer at the pile end.

6. Post-grouting of pile ends provides a new technology for pile foundation construction of building foundations with very small and strict requirements for total settlement and differential settlement (such as high-speed railways require total settlement to be controlled at about 10mm), because the settlement of gravel layer or bedrock after post-grouting of pile ends is mainly the settlement of pile body.

7. Post-grouting of pile ends and pile sides improves the ability of pile foundation to resist various dynamic loads (high-speed train loads, automobile vibration loads, machine cycle loads) by solidifying both the ends and pile sides.

8. Post-grouting of pile sides penetrates, compacts and reinforces the mud skin and pile sides on the pile sides, thereby improving the vertical pull-out resistance of pile foundations, which is beneficial to the vertical pull-out bearing capacity of foundations such as basements.
